Discuss the proposed approach, product choice, expected swelling, aftercare, possible side effects and complications, and what support is available afterwards. Results and recovery vary between people.
Choosing an approach that still looks like you
If subtlety is important to you, say so clearly. Photographs of your own previous appearance can sometimes be more useful than asking to copy somebody else’s lips.
Definition, volume or balance: explain the change you want
A clearer lip outline, a fuller appearance and more balanced proportions are different goals. Explain which matters most to you and which features you want to keep. Bringing a photograph of your own lips can help explain what has changed over time.
A consultation also gives you room to discuss what you do not want, such as a dramatic change. An example photograph is a way to communicate a preference, rather than a promise that another person’s result can be reproduced.
Does more filler mean a better result?
The amount should follow your assessment and agreed plan. Choosing a volume because it is on a price list is not the same as deciding that it is appropriate for your lips. Ask why a particular product and amount are being suggested, and whether treatment is appropriate at all.
